We are thrilled to share that Ouman has received a B score from the 2024 CDP SME Climate rating. This is particularly significant because this year’s CDP assessment did not include an A category—making B the highest possible score. The score reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainability, transparency, and continuous improvement in our environmental performance.
This recognition highlights our strong commitment to sustainability, transparency, and continuous environmental improvement. It also reflects how we create real impact—not only by delivering energy-efficient products and solutions but also by streamlining our operations for sustainability. Our dedication strengthens our competitiveness while driving meaningful environmental change.
CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system for companies, capital markets, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. CDP scores consider data point alignment with leading frameworks and standards, helping organizations navigate compliance more effectively.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), CDP offers a tailored questionnaire designed with simplified data points to address the unique needs of smaller organizations. Only those meeting CDP’s SME eligibility thresholds can complete this version. For 2024, the questionnaire places a stronger emphasis on climate by integrating data points on forests and water security, setting the stage for a comprehensive disclosure of these key environmental issues.
Achieving an SME B score from CDP signifies that our climate initiatives meet a "Management Level" standard. This score is awarded based on providing clear evidence of proactive environmental management actions and an in-depth understanding of the transparency required to address environmental impacts effectively. It highlights the measures we have implemented to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and drive positive change throughout our value chain. Ouman has a sustainability strategy that includes specific targets to reduce our carbon footprint, and we are fully dedicated to achieving these goals. Our overall environmental goal is to contribute to reduced environmental impact in line with the Paris Agreement. We aim to reach zero net emissions by 2050, with a target of reducing CO₂ emissions from our operations by 50% by 2030. We monitor our progress annually through ESG reporting, and Ouman Group has already achieved an average CO₂ reduction of about 20% per year. Here are some concrete steps we have taken to achieve these results:
> Low-Emission Vehicle Fleet
We have gradually transitioned our vehicle fleet to low-emission options. By doing so, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also inspire our team members and partners to adopt greener travel habits.
> Reduced and Recycled Packaging
We continuously work on minimizing the use of packaging materials and the overall amount of waste generated in production. We ensure that any necessary packaging is either recycled or reused. This includes plastics, cardboard, metals, and more—turning would-be waste into valuable resources.
> Increasing Use of Renewable Energy
More of our sites and production facilities are powered by renewable energy sources. For example, our factory in Saaremaa operates a 50-kilowatt solar power plant that generates about 10 per cent of the electricity needed for production, while the remaining 90 per cent is supplied by wind power purchased from the market. This shift not only helps cut emissions but also reduces reliance on non-renewable resources.
> Hybrid Work Solutions
By supporting remote work and hybrid solutions, we have significantly cut down on commuting-related emissions. This flexible work model also fosters a healthier work-life balance for our employees—an important aspect of our overall ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy.
> ISO14001 Certification
Ouman Group is ISO14001 certified, underscoring our commitment to rigorous environmental management and continual improvement. This certification ensures our sustainability practices are measured, monitored, and refined each year.
